About the DRSI

The Scientific Research and Innovation Department (DRSI) is a central department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Its mission is to guide, program and evaluate scientific research and innovation activities, to contribute, in collaboration with the international cooperation department, to the development of cooperation, partnership and scientific research and innovation twinning arrangements and to ensure their follow-up and execution.

Mission of the DRSI

Policy development

Participate in the development of national scientific research strategies.

Monitoring and evaluation

Investigate any request relating to the accreditation of scientific research structures and bodies and periodically draw up reports on research activity in higher education and scientific research establishments, to ensure their evaluation, expertise and to provide appropriate guidance.

Policy implementation

Promote scientific research and innovation by all available means and provide support for studies and post-graduate and post-doctoral training.

Orientation

Determine priority areas of scientific research based on the development needs of the country.

Networking

Promote relations between research establishments and public and private companies, allowing a better framing of the general orientations in terms of research and innovation.

Organization of the DRSI

The directorate comprises four divisions divided into two services: the service for the promotion of scientific research and the service for monitoring and evaluation.

Scientific research promotion department: in charge of activities concerning the orientation and coordination of the national scientific research policy. In this context, it participates in the definition of priorities and the development of training programs and plans through research based on the socio-economic needs of the country. it draws up periodic reports on scientific research and formulates opinions and proposals. It includes two divisions:
– Scientific Research Policy Division
– Division for the promotion of scientific research

Monitoring and Evaluation Service: is responsible for ensuring compliance with research standards, criteria and priorities, monitoring research activities and evaluating their results. It includes two divisions:
– Standards and Criteria Division
– Division of Doctoral Studies
